About Exercise Physiology


Cameron Phillips is an Exercise Physiologist from Echuca who practices at Synergy Osteopathy and Health on Mondays.

Cameron’s role as an Exercise Physiologist is to help you achieve your health and fitness goals with tailored exercise and stretching plans specific to you. Cameron can complement the role that your Osteopath or health professional already provides you.

The 7 main areas Cameron may help you are:
  • Weight loss / or achieving your ideal body weight through nutrition coaching (prevention of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease)
  • Increasing your strength
  • Improving your cardio vascular fitness (walking, running, riding, swimming activities)
  • Improve your balance and helping to prevent falls (mature age)
  • Decreasing your muscle and joint pain through stretching and strengthening
  • Enhancing your mobility and confidence to move independently (rehabilitation and mature age persons)
  • Athletic strength and conditioning and flexibility

What can you expect at an appointment with Cameron?

Discussion in regard to:
  • Your personal health and fitness goals which may extend to family and career goals. What motivates you?
  • Your background, career, family, exercise and health history
  • What are your expectations from your visit with Cameron
  • Your own printed out exercise prescription (guide) at the end of your appointment

  • Resting blood pressure and heart rate
  • 30sec or 60sec sit to stand test
  • Single leg balance test
  • 3m timed up and go test
  • 4 square step test for balance
  • Flexibility assessment
  • Two minute marching test
  • Step test
  • 6min walk test
  • Functional movement screens for the more athletic population
  • Upper body strength test
  • Abdominal strength test
  • 20m shuttle run test for aerobic fitness for more athletic populations

What do I need to bring or wear?
  • Comfortable clothes and shoes that you feel happy to perform light exercise in
  • A drink bottle might be a good idea, we do have water if you forget
  • Your referral form from your GP if you have been referred by your GP
